The area in which Atlanterra is located offers a wide variety of possibilities for sporting activities.

Water sports

Its golden sandy beaches invite you to walk and enjoy the stunning landscapes and its crystal clear waters offer excellent conditions for swimming, snorkelling, windsurfing, paddlesurfing and kitesurfing.

Fishing and boat trips

It is also possible to practise sport fishing by boat thanks to the proximity of the port, as well as the enjoyment of recreational motor and sailing ships.

Horse riding

Horse riding along the beach and its surroundings is an exciting experience in Urbanización Atlanterra. In the surrounding area, a short distance away, there are schools where you can learn to ride. Nearby, in the Dehesa de Montenmedio, international show jumping and dressage tournaments are held.

This area of Cadiz is closely linked to the world of horses: Jerez de la Frontera with its Royal School of Equestrian Art or the Horse Fair are examples, but we must not forget the horse races in Sanlúcar and those here on the beach, as well as the Polo tournaments in Sotogrande and the one organised by Atlanterra SA.

A space for Golf lovers

A golf course with beautiful views is being developed in the Atlanterra Urbanisation. In addition, residents can enjoy several high quality clubs in the immediate vicinity, including the prestigious Montenmedio Golf Club.

Walking trails

The beautiful environment of the Urbanisation, as well as the natural parks that surround it, allow hikers and cyclists to follow routes of varying difficulty in many cases, enjoying the views of the African coastline. You can also walk along the beach and enjoy the beautiful landscapes.

Feel Nature

The beautiful landscape of Urbanización Atlanterra is made up of the native vegetation of the area, low scrubland, such as mastic trees, palmettos, vincas, linarias, etc. and the variety of plants and trees in the gardens of the villas.

If we add to this the golden sand of its beaches, the blue sea of the bay, the views of the mountains of the African coast, the cliffs of Barbate and in the distance the cape of Trafalgar, it is not surprising that those who know this place have been captivated.

From the Camarinal Lighthouse in the Atlanterra Urbanisation you can see part of the Strait of Gibraltar Natural Park, a maritime-terrestrial park, situated between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, it is home to a great natural wealth of great uniqueness:



Pine forests, cork oak groves, wild olive trees, juniper plants, barron in its vegetation.



Birds such as the white stork, the honey buzzard, the black kite, the griffon vulture, imperial eagles, blue-winged kites and birds from the African-European migrations in spring and autumn.



More than 1,900 species of marine flora and fauna have been counted in our waters, including loggerhead turtles, dolphins and porpoises.

Along the cliffs of Barbate is the Breña Natural Park, inland is the Grazalema Natural Park and next to the Strait of Gibraltar is the Alcornocales Natural Park.

GRAN PREMIO ATLANTERRA SA Horse Racing Grand Prix

In 2012 Atlanterra S.A. sponsored this Grand Prix to commemorate its 50th Anniversary and thus started a new local tradition of horse racing on the beach.

The Atlanterra Grand Prix was for some years a very interesting weekend offer. It coincided with the Ruta del Retinto Gastronómico at the end of September, which was the time of the year when the tides were most suitable for horse racing.

The races, for both professional and amateur jockeys, were held on an extensive beach. La alegría y el entusiasmo por este acontecimiento son evidentes en participantes y espectadores.

The joy and enthusiasm for this event is evident in participants and spectators alike. Today, although under a different patronage, these races are still held. The aesthetic image and the harmony of the horses running on the beach instil a sense of freedom and fusion with nature, especially in the last races that take place at sunset.

Arena Polo Tournament

Likewise, thanks to the sponsorship of Atlanterra S. A. to commemorate its 50th anniversary, the Polo Tournament was held together with the horse races.

It took place on the beach of Zahara de los Atunes, coinciding both events with the Gastronomic Retinto Route at the end of September.

Arena Polo is a variant of Polo played on a smaller field and with a different ball to the regulation one.

The Hurlingham Polo Association and the U.S. Polo Association have established their own rules for Arena Polo, which are also used in other countries.

This first edition of the Polo Arena Tournament turned out to be a great attraction where the obvious joy of a live match was a great enthusiasm among the spectators.
